Abstract

Nine Royal Navy Falklands War veterans took part in this study conducted using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis. Three meta-themes and ten themes illustrate the participants' psychological journey. The study posits that confrontation with existential givens mediates between active service and posttraumatic stress/growth and proposes a tentative existential model for PTSD.
