Welcome to the second issue of the twenty-sixth edition of Existential Analysis. We are delighted to be able to open this edition with a number of papers from the Society for Existential Analysis 2014 Conference held in London. Our first paper, Marion Steel's fascinating 'Daring to Play: Art, Life and Therapy, from Heidegger to Gadamer, by way of Barthes' Punctum and the Paintings of Paul Klee', was the opening Keynote of the Conference. Recapping the order of the conference, our second offering is also the second event from the morning proceedings, the Open Forum: 'The Challenge to Theory in Existential Psychotherapy' which was chaired by Prof Carla Willig. A number of conference delegates expressed the desire to have a permanent record of this lively panel discussion and we are grateful to Prof Carla Willig, Prof George Berguno, Prof Mick Cooper, Prof Martin Milton, Prof Simon du Plock and Prof Ernesto Spinelli for making this possible. We would be delighted to receive contributions to the Journal from contributors to the debate and members of the audience for this session of the Conference, or indeed responses to any aspect of the 2014 conference.
We are also pleased to be able to include two further papers from the Conference: one by Dr Greg Madison which is based on his presentation 'Daring to Listen to the Truth of the Body: Existential-Phenomenology needs the body's response', and a second by Donna Savery, in which she shares her research into working with the myth of Echo and Narcissus to explore both Narcissistic and (what she terms) 'Echoistic' traits.
Among a number of other papers included in this issue are Mike Harding's profound and moving 'Review of the Reviewer Reviewing the film Hannah Arendt', and a contribution from Christopher Macann – one of the authors featured in the very first volume of Existential Analysis, published in 1990!
Finally, turning to the team who enable us to produce this Journal, as ever we have a substantial book review section; our thanks to Martin Adams who can be contacted if you are interested in reviewing any titles on the current book list. A belated but heartfelt welcome to Derek Bean who last year took on the role of Peer Review Coordinator, continuing the hard work of Helen Acton. We also want to welcome Andrew Miller, who joined Katrina Pitts to oversee the production of Existential Analysis at the same time. We are very grateful to each member of the Journal team, without whom we would quickly descend into despair, neurotic and existential. In addition, our gratitude goes out to members of our hardworking and diligent Reader's Panel, whose advice and recommendations are crucial to the quality of the Journal.
