Some authors claim existential therapy is growing but no evidence or data about its geographical distribution has been found. This paper is a first attempt to map out the distribution of existential psychotherapies and psychotherapists around the globe. Two studies are presented: A systematic online search of international existential institutions and an online questionnaire survey of existential psychotherapists and counsellors worldwide. A total of 128 existential therapy institutions were found in 42 countries and 1,264 existential practitioners from 48 countries responded to our questionnaire. Data indicates that existential therapies are spread worldwide and highlights the contemporary importance and reach of this this psychotherapeutic paradigm.
