We are delighted to be able to open this, the second volume of the twentieth edition of Existential Analysis, with contributions from each of the keynote speakers at the 2008 Society for Existential Analysis Conference, 'Time-Being. Past, Present and Future'. This too marked an anniversary since it was the twentieth conference held by the Society, and we are especially pleased to publish the papers of all three distinguished speakers – Professor Emmy van Deurzen, Professor Ernesto Spinelli, and Professor Betty Cannon – as well as a response to Professor Cannon's work.

The vibrancy and energy of existential-phenomenological theorists and practitioners both in the UK and internationally is attested by the number of high-quality submissions which we are currently receiving. International awareness of the Journal and of the Society for Existential Analysis is also promoted by a global Editorial Board. This edition of the Journal includes a paper on 'Truth and Psychotherapy' by Professor Rimantas Kočiūnas from Lithuania, a paper on Heidegger and Counselling Psychology from Jason Copperstone from Malta, and a contribution on Daseinsanalysis from Dr Jiří Růžička at the University of Psycho-Social Studies in Prague.

These papers feature alongside a number of fascinating papers by UK authors, among them further contributions to existential-phenomenological thinking on sexual identity (Catherine Crabtree), language and race (Haran Rasalingam), and being away from home (Lorraine Brown and Joanne Brown)

On a sadder, but undeniably celebratory note, this edition includes a personal remembrance by Ernesto Spinelli of Dr Freddie Strasser, a practitioner and teacher who touched the lives of very many in the existential therapy community, and beyond.
